Arc’teryx has opened a new three-story flagship store in Montreal, bringing the full breadth of its technical outdoor and urban collections to the city where the Vancouver-born brand opened its first store in the world 20 years ago.

Located on Sainte-Catherine Street, the new space is more than a traditional retail store. It combines Arc’teryx’s latest apparel, footwear and equipment with dedicated presentations of Veilance and a full ReBIRD atelier designed to keep the brand’s products in use for as long as possible.

The opening represents Arc’teryx’s most ambitious investment in its Montreal retail presence since 2006, while reinforcing the city’s role in the company’s history and future. The store has also been conceived as a meeting place for Montreal’s outdoor community, with space for local running clubs, climbing groups, clinics and other activities.

A Montreal chapter in Arc’teryx history

Arc’teryx began in 1989 as a small operation founded by Vancouver-area climbers who were focused on improving climbing harnesses and packs. That early commitment to technical design, durability and obsessive attention to detail remains central to the brand’s identity today.

Montreal became an important part of that story in 2006, when Arc’teryx opened its first dedicated brand store—and its first store anywhere in the world—on Sainte-Catherine Street. Twenty years later, the new flagship builds on that original retail presence with a larger, more comprehensive experience.

Rather than separating outdoor performance from city dressing, the store presents the brand as a complete system. Technical shells, insulated layers, climbing and hiking equipment, footwear and accessories are displayed alongside Veilance, Arc’teryx’s more refined urban line. The result is a retail environment that reflects how the brand is worn today: on mountain trails, during winter commutes and throughout everyday city life.

One store, every Arc’teryx category

The flagship brings together the brand’s main collections under one roof, giving customers access to a wider assortment than a conventional Arc’teryx location.

Visitors can expect to find:

  • Technical mountain apparel for hiking, climbing, skiing and snowboarding.

  • Arc’teryx footwear designed for trail, approach and everyday movement.

  • Equipment and accessories for mountain travel and outdoor pursuits.

  • Veilance, the brand’s urban collection focused on minimalist design and technical materials.

  • ReBIRD services dedicated to product care, repair, trade-in and resale.

The store’s community focus is equally important. Arc’teryx describes its brand stores as places where customers can connect, learn and prepare for their next adventure, with events such as product clinics, guest talks and run clubs forming part of the experience.

ReBIRD brings circularity into the store

The centerpiece of the new Montreal flagship is the full ReBIRD atelier on the third floor.

Customers can bring their Arc’teryx gear in for washing, technical care and repairs. Depending on the condition of a product, the service can also include a trade-in, allowing customers to exchange eligible equipment for store credit rather than sending it directly to landfill.

The approach turns the store into a long-term service centre rather than simply a place to buy new clothing. ReBIRD is designed to give products multiple lives through washing, repair, trade-in, resale and upcycling. Arc’teryx says its wash service can refresh technical garments, re-proof GORE-TEX products and restore the loft of down insulation, while repair services address damage such as rips, scuffs and worn components.

The atelier also supports the sale of authenticated pre-owned Arc’teryx products. These garments may come from earlier collections or have been repaired and reworked, making them available at lower prices while giving customers access to pieces with a distinct history.

For customers, the appeal is practical: a damaged jacket does not necessarily mean the end of its useful life. Under the brand’s warranty and product-care commitments, Arc’teryx aims to support repairable gear over the long term. Service eligibility and potential charges can vary depending on the product and the assessment, but the underlying promise is that customers can continue caring for their equipment well beyond the original purchase.

A flagship for Montreal’s outdoor community

The new store arrives at a time when technical outdoor clothing has become increasingly visible in urban life. Montreal’s strong running, climbing, hiking and winter-sports communities make it a natural setting for a flagship that blends retail with product education and after-sales care.

Its ReBIRD offering also reflects the city’s established interest in second-hand fashion and responsible consumption. Montreal is now among the North American cities where customers can access Arc’teryx’s repair, trade-in and resale ecosystem in person.

For Arc’teryx, the opening is both a return and a forward-looking statement. The brand’s first Montreal store helped establish its direct connection with customers two decades ago. The new flagship expands that relationship by offering not only new gear, but also the tools and services needed to maintain, repair, exchange and reuse it.

In that sense, the store’s most important feature may not be the latest jacket on the sales floor. It may be the promise that an Arc’teryx product can remain part of an adventure—and part of a customer’s wardrobe—for years to come.

Montreal’s newest Arc’teryx store location is located at 1133 Ste-Catherine Ouest.
